Glossary of Terms

Over the years many terms have been introduced to describe aspects of the road  freight industry and the equipment it uses. Some of these terms are generic whilst  others, such a “B” train, are unique. Often a term is abbreviated.  

Some abbreviations can have more than one  meaning, for example OD can be used to describe  and Over Dimension Load or an Owner Driver  therefore understanding the context in which the  abbreviation is used is important. 

This guide introduces some of these terms and  common abbreviations it is however not complete  and will be added to from time to time.
